Recently I have started making personalized make-up cases and pencil cases using a heap of linen I bought from Spotlight. I like to sit and embroider whenever I watch T.V. (Except for when watching Glee which always requires a spectacular amount of focus). This one is for my sister, who loves to be called by her initials. It will eventually become a padded make-up case with red and natural linen on the outside and the lovely Ginkgo Biloba cotton lining the inside. I will machine a button hole there at the V under the embroidery and I have a cute button covered in an undyed cotton knit.
What I love about embroidery is that it's so very relaxing and if my stitches look uneven (they often do) I can easily pull them out, re-thread and continue on. Much better than quick-unpicking machine stitching.
Other than that it is off to the Stitches and Craft fair this afternoon. My 3 year old little Jim is home sick from day care today so he will make the event interesting I'm sure :)

Thanks Cathie, I think he is improving and I spent way too much money on fabric once again. x
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! Your sister will be thrilled I think. Hope Jim is feeling better and that you enjoyed the show.
ReplyDeleteI love your embroidery :) K
ReplyDeleteIt looks very neat & tidy! I think I need to practice a bit more so mine looks so good! Looking forward to seeing them finished!
ReplyDeleteJealous about craft show! Sounds like everyone is going!
oh i have to agree with you about stitching..it is indeed very relaxing and rewarding :)
ReplyDeleteI have decided that I am THRILLED to be doing any craft that allows me to snuggle by the fire. Unless we experience a winter heatwave I don't fancy the chances for pulling out the sewing machine. Your stitchery is gorgeous. Fairy stitchery indeedy!
ReplyDeleteOh I do hope your little one gets better soon. I agree - embroidery is ace.
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is lovely. I've been wanting to give it a try myself..I think i may have to make some time very soon...
ReplyDeleteVery nice stitching. I agree that the unpicking is much easier, although I've started embracing a slightly imperfect look and that saves me even more time. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes I recently embraced 'imperfect' stitches and discovered that no one noticed anyway. I realize that the only one scrutinizing my stitches is Me! I could probably relax a bit! :)
ReplyDeleteYour stitching looks pretty fabulous to me. Before I read the post I was thinking how neat it is.
